The Argentinean flag has three horizontal stripes and a central sun to represent Argentina’s independence.
Blue bands denote the country's clear skies, the white represents the snow of the Andes and the sun with a human face is called the Sun of May and bears features of the Inca god of Sun. The Liberation army of General Manuel Belgrano wore blue and white hat-pieces or cockades to distinguish them from Spanish troops during the 19th century liberation, crowds wore those same hat-pieces when demanding self-determination in Buenos Aires on the 25th of May 1810, with the colours eventually being used in the liberated nations flag.
